New in 2007 - Electric utilities and other entities that are FERC-jurisdictional need to show compliance to national reliability standards and region-specific reliability standards.  To this end, the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) has been named the Electric Reliability Organization by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to enforce Mandatory Reliability Standards for the Bulk-Power System.
